2022
Garby
Timeline 3 Months
Tools Figma, Miro, Photoshop, Illustrator
Roles and responsibilities
I organized the responsibilities and deadlines and verified the quality and timing. Also, I created the logo, task flow, and wireframes as a project manager.
Design Challenge
Design and prototype an app to help the users learn about recycling and make it easier for them to recycle correctly.
Overview
The objective is to create a task flow showing the user’s decisions since they enter the waste disposal app, have an app account, go to the home page, and discover different features such as points, a calendar, a color guide, and benefits. Also, create low, medium, and high-fidelity wireframes. Finally, create a prototype. To do this, we developed interviews, empathy maps, personas, problem statements, hypotheses, assumptions, crazy six, etc.
Project Goal
Garby is an environmental App that guides the user in managing waste properly. The target is working professionals who primarily live in busy cities in third-world countries without homeowners’ associations. We aimed to help this audience create ways of managing and organizing waste.
Design Thinking Process
01 Empathize
The purpose is to understand the users’ needs, behaviors, and motivations. The research started by developing questions for our interviews and identifying the answers based on what the user thinks, says, feels, and does.
02 Define
After, we capture quantitative and qualitative data. This process helps us create user personas and define the problem statement.
Working professionals who primarily live in an area located in busy cities in third-world countries without homeowners’ associations need more effective ways of managing and organizing the waste created by themselves. Currently, garbage collection and proper disposal are not implemented in their areas compared to other exclusive subdivisions with homeowners’ associations.
03 Ideate
The next step is to generate creative ideas. As a process, we develop How Might We’s, Assumptions, Hypothesis, Crazy 6’s, and 3 Panel Sketches.
04 Prototype and Branding
This stage is about creating a Low-Fidelity of solution. Next, Medium-Fidelity, finally High- Fidelity, and design the branding.

Lessons Learned
- Understanding the importance of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) because that will help to focus on the user needs.
- Distributing the work among the group members to maximize efficiency since each focuses on one step.
